Abstract

Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is represented by progressive and irreversible loss of renal function, with systemic consequences throughout the body. The chronic condition of the disease and the treatment are permanent sources of stress and can bring numerous losses to the patient. Intradialytic physiotherapeutic rehabilitation promotes beneficial physiological, physical and psychological effects for individuals with CKD. The objective of the research was to evaluate the effect of intradialytic physical exercise on the perceived stress of the chronic renal patient.  Ten (10) individuals with CKD participated in the study. Initially data were collected from the sociodemographic and clinical profile of the participants and evaluation of perceived stress. Physiotherapeutic rehabilitation was performed during hemodialysis, three times weekly, for one month, totaling 12 sessions. It consisted of heating, followed by aerobic exercise in Cicloergometer of lower limbs and finished with relaxation exercises. After the 12 sessions the perceived stress assessment questionnaire was reapplied. The profile of the population studied was mostly women (60%), with a mean age of 59 13 years, low income (60%), sedentary and hypertensive (100%). The assessment of perceived stress of the participants showed a median stress level, which was not modified by the intervention (Before: 23 6, After: 22 6, p = 0.5). It is concluded that, although the literature shows that intradialytic physiotherapeutic rehabilitation promotes different benefits for individuals
