Analysis of the social characteristics of work in the context of the pandemic

Abstract

The work context is composed of three components: working conditions, work organization and socio-professional relationships, which involve the social characteristics of the work environment. This study aims to analyze the changes that occurred in the social characteristics of work during the Covid-19 pandemic. Quantitative research was carried out using the Work Design Questionary (WDQ). Study participants were 419 professionals from different areas of work who received the questionnaire with the WDQ electronically. The results show that there was an increase in the interaction of workers with individuals outside the organization during the Covid-19 pandemic. This result may have been a consequence of the use of new modalities of distance work, such as home-office and telecommuting, during the period of social isolation. This search for interaction can be considered as a personal strategy to face this new moment, indicating the mental health of many of them.
